(Pepsi) Max Citrus Freeze
Not happy with revolutionising my entire world with Pepsi Max "Wild Cherry", they've also just brought out Pepsi Max Citrus Freeze.
Just like it's fruity beverage-brother, the Citrus version of Pepsi Max has had to achieve the taste of citrus without bringing sugar into the equation. Is it a success?
To answer that we need to go back to Pepsi's main rival: Coca Cola, and compare the like-for-like products. Diet Coke with Lemon is close enough, and I used to drink it by the gallon. Diet Coke with Lemon is amazing: the flavour suits the subtle base taste very well.
Let me say it plainly: Pepsi Max Citrus Freeze is better than Pepsi Max Cherry. But Pepsi Max Citrus is not as nice as Diet Coke with Lemon... Why not? Because I prefer lemon flavouring in cola drinks to arbitrary "citrus flavouring". Don't get me wrong, I love Pepsi Max Citrus Freeze, but it's not lemon. If Pepsi Max Lemon was out, I'm sure that it would trounce Diet Coke with Lemon. I'm sure of it.
I can only find 2-litre bottles of Pepsi Max Citrus Freeze in Cooperative stores, for £1 a bottle, but a good friends found 500ml bottles of the stuff in Tesco.
Which do you prefer?
